1.2 I don’t have an application code and don’t know how to get one. What do I do?
If you don’t have your application code, the easiest thing to do is to go to the nation you want to join. At the nation you will be given help to sign up without your application code. When you go to a nation you need to take your letter of acceptance, some ID and your LADOK number.
1.3 What is a LADOK number and where can I find it?
You get your LADOK number from the University. It looks something like this: 850505-T123. If you don’t have your LADOK number you can ask Student Services for help to find out what it is.
1.4 I am a returning student and it doesn’t work when I try to register at studentlund.se. What do I do?
If you have ever been a member of a students’ union/nation in Lund you are already registered in our membership system and you therefore cannot register again. Contact the union/nation of which you were previously a member or the union/nation you want to join now.
1.5 I am studying two or more programmes/courses. Which application code should I use?
Use the application code that represents the subject you consider to be your main subject.
1.6 I broke off my registration before I had paid and completed the process. How can I get up my details again in order to pay?
If you got as far as entering your email address, you can go to www.medlemsavgift.com and click “Forgot password?”. Your details will be sent to the email address you registered. If this doesn’t work, please contact your union.
2. CHOOSING A NATION
2.1 When can I complete my membership application by choosing a nation?
The nations are open for registration from 18 August to 18 September. Most nations are open 10:00–18:00 during this period, but for more exact opening hours see your nation’s website. At the nation, your second letter of acceptance will be checked. It is therefore important that you take this with you so that we can check that you have been accepted finally to Lund University.
The nations’ contact details can be found under the “Nationer” tab.
3. PAYMENT AND CONFIRMATION
3.1 I don’t have my login details. What do I do?
Go to www.medlemsavgift.com and click “Forgot password?”. Your details will be sent to the email address you registered when you joined. You can also change your personal details on the site.
If you receive the message “The email address was not found among our student unions/customers”, please contact your union/nation and we will help you by registering your email address so that you can retrieve your login details.
3.2 I have registered and paid my membership fee; do I get a confirmation message or a receipt?
You receive a confirmation email to say that you have registered. This contains your login details for www.medlemsavgift.com. To prove that you have paid, you can log in to www.medlemsavgift.com as soon as your payment is registered and print out your details. You can use this printout to visit the nations until 19 September, after which you will need your membership card to attend activities at the nations.
3.3 I want to pay from a bank account abroad. What do I do and what information do I need?
We recommend that you pay by credit/debit card, as the payment then reaches us directly and there are no delays with your payment registration and student card order. If you pay from a bank account abroad the payment can take several weeks to arrive. If you nevertheless want to pay from an account abroad you will need to give the following information:
IBAN: SE80 8000 0807 9607 4105 2831
BIC: SWEDSESS
Account holder: TERMINSRÄKNINGSFÖRENINGEN/TRF
4. THE MEMBERSHIP CARD
4.1 I have just moved, how do I get my membership card sent to my new address?
You can change your registered details, such as your postal address and email address, at www.medlemsavgift.com. It is important that you always keep your address up-to-date.
4.2 When will I get my membership card?
During the semester your card order is sent off on the same day we receive your payment. The card is sent by second class post and will reach you within a few days. You can see if your card has been ordered at www.medlemsavgift.com.
4.3 I haven’t received my membership card, where is it?
If you are a new student, you must go to the nation you want to join with your letter of acceptance before your card is ordered. Once the nation has confirmed that you are a student, your card order is sent for production.
If you have already chosen a nation, or have been a student previously, you should log in to www.medlemsavgift.com to check that your membership for the semester has been paid. If it doesn’t say anything under “Previous payments” and HT2010, we have not received your payment. Check that the payment has really been made; otherwise please contact your union/nation.
If you have not updated your address or if you have recently moved, the card may have been sent to your old address. Check first if it has gone to your old address. Otherwise contact your nation, as the card may have been returned to the nation. Because we need to have your correct address so that your membership card reaches you, it is very important that you always keep your address up-to-date at www.medlemsavgift.com.
If you are over 26, a check is made in LADOK/with CSN to confirm that you are studying at a rate of 75% or more. This is because the SJ/SAS discounts are only available to full-time students. The check is made three times at the start of the semester and if you are not registered as a full-time student by 21 September, your card is sent out without the SJ/SAS discount symbols. This means that if you are over 26 you may have to wait until the end of September to get your student card.
Under the heading “My membership card” you can see if your card has been ordered, on what date and whether it entitles you to SJ/SAS discounts.
Until 19 September you can use a printout from www.medlemsavgift.com as proof of your membership of Studentlund. For example, you can use this to participate in the nations’ activities.
If you still have not received your student card by 19 September, you can contact your nation to get a certificate of payment.
5. STUDENT AT THE FACULTY OF ENGINEERING (LTH)
5.1 I am going to start studying at the Faculty of Engineering (LTH). Do I have to join Studentlund?
As an LTH student you have the opportunity to have two memberships; one through Teknologkåren (the Faculty of Engineering students’ union) and one through Studentlund. You are not obliged to be a member of either, but if you really want to experience student life in Lund, we strongly recommend joining! In order to apply for housing via afb.se and at the nations, you must be a member of Studentlund. You must also join if you want to participate in the nations’ activities, as membership is required for all of these.
5.2 I am going to start studying at the Faculty of Engineering (LTH). I want to join Studentlund. What do I do?
Go to http://studentlund.se/register-for-membership/ to register. Enter your application code and you will then have the possibility of paying by credit/debit card or bank giro. You then become a member of a nation and the Academic Society (AF).
6. DOCTORAL STUDENT
7.1 I am a doctoral student. What rules apply to me and what do I do?
Doktorandkåren (The Doctoral student union) is not part of Studentlund. That means that if you are a doctoral student, you can choose if you want to be a member of your union and/or a student nation and AF. If you want to join Studentlund you can get help from both a nation and the Doctoral student union to do so. If you are a doctoral student at the faculty of engineering you should be part of Teknologkåren (the Faculty of Engineering students’ union) instead. To read more about how to join them read section 5. Student at the faculty of engineering (LTH)
If you want to get the SJ and Skånetrafiken discounts you need to prove, each semester, that you are a doctoral student for at least 75 %. This is because you as a doctoral student are not registered in Ladok. You need to provide your nation or union with a certificate from your department to demonstrate that you are entitled the discounts.
7. STUDENT FROM OTHER UNIVERISTY
7.1 I am studying at Malmö University or the Øresund University and would like to become a member of Studentlund. What rules apply to me and what do I do?
As a student at one of the institutions within the Øresund University, you are welcome to join Studentlund. You can choose to become a member of a union and/or a nation and the Academic Society (AF). Contact the organisation you want to join and we will help you to register as a member. Contact details for all organisations can be found on studentlund.se
The Øresund University comprises: Copenhagen Business School (CBS), the Royal School of Library and Information Science (DB),the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Kristianstad University (HKR), the IT University of Copenhagen (ITU), the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts School of Architecture (KA), the University of Copenhagen (KU), Malmö University (MAH), Roskilde University (RUC), and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences in Alnarp (SLU).
8. CHANGE OF UNION/NATION
8.1 I want to change nation. What do I do?
Contact the nation you want to change to. You can change nations at the start of the semester before you have paid your semester fee. This is because the nations have different membership fees.
9. TO JOIN AF BOSTÄDER’S HOUSING WAITING LIST
9.1 I want to join AF Bostäder’s housing waiting list, but on afb.se it says that I must be a member of Studentlund. How do I become one?
In order to join AF Bostäder’s housing waiting list, you must be a member of Studentlund. If you have never previously been a member of a students’ union/nation, you can register at studentlund.se. If you have previously been a member of a union/nation, contact your union/nation to get a bill for the semester fee. In your housing application you then write when you last paid your membership of Studentlund. Write the date when the payment was registered. When you are offered housing you are expected to be able to prove that you have been a member of Studentlund throughout the time you were on the waiting list.
10. TAKE PART OF THE CAMPUS LIFE
10.1. I want to attend an activity at one of the nations. What do I need to have?
Following the removal of compulsory students’ union membership on 1 July 2010, membership is required for all the nations’ activities, whether it is a night club, lunch or if you want to apply for a scholarship. You therefore need a membership card to prove that you are a member of Studentlund. Until 19 September you can go to the nations with a printout from www.medlemsavgift.comstating that you have paid.
11. OTHER
11.1 I am no longer a student, but I have received a bill for the semester fee. Why? What do I do with it?
When you finish studying you should no longer pay your semester fee. You can cancel your membership by simply not paying the bill. You do not need to contact anyone to cancel your membership.
If you do not find the answer to your question in the FAQ, please contact any nation or students’ union, who will be able to help you.
